Lee Ann and Scott - A Charlotte Meet-Cute For The Modern Age
Jan 17, 2019 | By: Fusion Photography
In our modern age, it's becoming more and more common for couples to meet online. But it's not just the dating scene, a lot of our day to day lives take place on the internet, whether through work or social media. We're not knocking technology here, but with so much happening online, it can translate into less interactions organically while we go through our day. Lee Ann and Scott met through a mix of modernity and old-school communication - check out their adorable meet-cute and see how their relationship unfolded.
How did you meet?
Lee Ann: At the Manhattan Bagel in the Arboterum Shopping Center. We were both working remotely and struck up a conversation. Neither one of us remember who spoke first. Scott claims it is me and has been known to tell my Dad he "raised a forward daughter" who hit on him. I personally think this story attests to who really was likely the one to speak first.
Check out the sweet silliness from their engagement session - these two are super cute and their energy made for a fun day.
Our first outing was a LONG walk on the green in ridiculous heat with no water. Neither one wanted to be the one to say we should turn around and we therefore ended up walking about 8 miles! It was almost 100 degrees! However, what we consider our first date-date was the Kenny Chesney concert at Bank of America Stadium. It was a great time and fun night!
What's one humorous, loving story about your partner?
Scott: So our first date has a little more to the story. The tickets had been a gift to Lee Ann from her husband at the time of gifting. I was excited to go and be with her. However, it was not until we were at the Stadium that she informed me we would be sitting with her ex-husband's high school best friend and his wife.
Lee Ann: Scott loves to mountain bike and I had done some riding before but nowhere near his level. He persuaded me to buy a better bike so I would enjoy riding much more. I did buy a better bike a much better bike. On one of the first few rides on the new bike, I told Scott to ride ahead with his friend as I did not want to hold them up or feel pressure. They went ahead and I proceeded to make my way around the trail. I encountered a split in the trail and had to choose right or left. I chose WRONG and panicked tossing me off the bike and my fingers straight into the ground. I managed to get back on the bike and out of the trail but only as Scott came whizzing past me to go brag to his friend that he indeed had managed to make a second loop of the trail and catch me. As I got to our car and was cleaning up my scrapes and assessing what turned out to be a broken finger, Scott came over to me. It was at that moment he realized "oh shit!" It was all better when we came home, cleaned up, and went to dinner at the local sports bar where we sat and iced my fingers!
Scott: Absolutely beautiful...I'm in trouble! In addition, smart, professional. I knew the first day I met her that I would marry her one day. Just took 6 years to convince her.
Lee Ann: Handsome (out of my league), beautiful, sexy eyes, personable, funny, caring, and thoughtful. A bit crazy when he told me he was going to marry me within 24 hours of meeting me. I was almost a runner at that point.
At what point did you realize you wanted to spend the rest of your lives together?
Scott: After talking that very first day I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Lee Ann.
Lee Ann: For me, it has been a progression. After my divorce, I was not sure I ever wanted to be married again. To further complicate it, I never had a strong desire to be a mom or have children and Scott has two! They were 12 and 9 when we met. However, despite all those two very big factors, I was drawn to Scott, his personality and the way he treated me. He made me happy and a priority in his life. We have had some pretty serious bumps in the road in the past 6 years but we have managed through them and grown stronger in our partnership and relationship because of them. It was during one of the bumps that I realized I thought I would possibly entertain getting married again. We have lived the last three years as if we were married and many people think we already are. When I witnessed my dad be a saintly husband and caretaker to my mother in her final years, something changed in me and in my thoughts about marrying Scott. I think I realized that I wanted and needed to make our bond official, to be official in God's view and between us.
We truly enjoyed working with Lee Ann and Scott. Their relationship has such an old-school feel to it and we love that through their ups and downs, love found a way over and over. Congratulations, you two lovebirds. And seriously, ya'll, how steamy was their engagement shoot? We love seeing couples in love (obviously). At Fusion, we own up to being total suckers for all your love stories.
