From Charlotte to Mont Tremblant, This Wedding Took Love on the Road
Matt and Nicole are not your traditional couple. They really embody what it’s like to date and fall in love in our modern time. Some fun facts before we let them tell their story - this wedding took place in three parts! There was a sweet and simple courthouse wedding, then fast forward a few months to the reception in Charlotte to party with friends and family in the Queen City. And then, the bride and groom hit the road, taking their love to Canada for a wedding with the bride’s family and friends and they brought Fusion Photography along for the ride to capture the entire event.
In working with Fusion to ensure their wedding photography matched their vision and their personalities, Nicole said: “I want to have the time of my life!” We think you’ll be able to tell from the photos that the bride and groom were loving every moment.
How They Met
We actually met on Match.com about a year before we ever met in person. We exchanged a few emails and then it fizzled out. Fast forward a year and we run into each other through mutual friends at Tin Roof in the Epicenter.
Matt had just come from a concert (JayZ concert Jan 4, 2014) and we were talking about music and later I found out he almost stopped talking to me because I had said my favorite band is Nickelback (I'm Canadian).
It has been an ongoing joke in our relationship, including gag gifts of Nickelback memorabilia.
After that initial night at Tin Roof, it took about 3 weeks for us to run into each other again (I planned "running in" to each other), and we decided to go on a date the next day. Well, he forgot to get my number, so I managed to track it down through our friend. Needless to say, I pursued him :)
He later told me that he never intended to fall for me but I wore him down over time. How romantic (insert eye roll). I, on the other hand, knew that he was the one right away.
It was Canadian Thanksgiving, October 9th, and I always make a big Thanksgiving dinner for our friends in Charlotte. I had been cooking all day, and after we had just finished eating, he called me up to give a speech with him, and that is when he got down and proposed in front of our family and friends.
October 9th was also when Hurricane Matthew and Tropical Storm Nicole was devastating the coastline. So included in his speech was how basically that this was the galaxy's way of telling Matt to propose. An act of God. haha.
From Behind The Lens
Have camera, will travel - Fusion followed this love story all the way to Mont Tremblant, Canada. And one of the things we loved about this couple was their desire for honest memories for their day - no fake poses and sore cheeks from forced smiles. Their wedding album will be filled with sexy and silly moments that detail their journey - there was skiing at this wedding. We cannot stress how unconventional and fun this wedding was. And we are so glad Matt and Nicole let us come along for the ride.
