15 Years of Love and Fun - Celebrating Jessica and Nathan's Anniversary with a photo shoot

Dec 21, 2018 | By: Fusion Photography

Jessica and Nathan are celebrating 15 years of marriage this month. While they live in Texas, they traveled to Charlotte North Carolina for among other things, to photograph with Fusion. We asked them both some questions to get to know them better and to find out some fun details from the last 15 years.

Here are their candid responses.

What is your favorite quality about your partner?

Nathan: Jessica is fun, thoughtful, driven, sexy, smart...enjoys sports, adventure, pretty things. She is not interested in other people's drama. She is strong and unbreakable. She makes every situation better. She makes me a hell of a lot better. She can sing, she is artistic. She is pretty much everything and capable of everything, except math with fractions. I love all those qualities equally.

Jessica: Nathan is balance. He is just as logical as he is creative. He is incredibly intelligent, he can do insane math in his head, but then turn around and conceptualize an incredible piece of art. He has the best sense of humor and I love how we can be silly together. I wouldn't say he is my rock, he is more like my play-doh. He is fun, colorful, a soft place to be, molds into exactly what I need at any moment even if I'm not sure myself what that is, and timeless.

Okay, are you as in love with this couple yet as we are?

Why do you want to take these photos?

Because we had a very small wedding and didn't want to spend money on it, we had a family friend take our photos. They are not good. For the last 15 years, I refused to hang any of our wedding pics in our house. Because we have always had kids as long as we have been married, all of our professional pics have included them. We want pictures that really represent us as a couple and celebrate all we have been through with each other.

Which of you is the most affectionate and outgoing?

Jessica is the most outgoing, although if you get Nathan talking, he has a lot to say. Nathan is the most affectionate.

What’s one humorous, loving story about your partner?

Nathan: When we got married, we didn't have any money so my wedding ring was a $10 ring from Wal-Mart. A year later she bought a titanium ring to replace it but I continued to wear the original. On our 5 year anniversary, we were flying home from Costa Rica and I put my belt, phone, wallet, and ring into my hat to get through security. When we got on the plane I realized my ring was gone. I was so bummed and she was pretty sad about it. So I started wearing the titanium ring. Some months later I put on the hat for the first time in a while and the $10 ring fell out of the inner band. I still wear the titanium ring and the $10 ring is in a box stored with her "original engagement ring".

Jessica: Ok, so going off of the story he told, I will tell about the original engagement ring that he gave me. When Nathan proposed to me I was pregnant, he was trying to find a consistent job and as he said, we had no money. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, placing a ring he had made out of the twist-tie from the bread bag. It was the best thing ever, and you better believe I wore it. So at our wedding, knowing that we didn't have the money for wedding rings, we were just going to borrow my parent's original wedding set that they didn't use anymore. When we got to the ring part of the ceremony, Nathan pulls out this beautiful diamond ring, that he had gotten as a surprise for me. And then I pulled out the $10 Wal-Mart ring as a surprise for him.

These stories really show that our love for each other has always been truly about making each other happy, regardless of what we had. It has never been about material things for us it has always been about how we can show our love for each other.

If you could pick the perfect “date night,” what would it look like?

Nathan: My 33rd birthday we were weeks away from moving into our current home. So we went and sat on our future back porch because the house was locked. We drank whiskey, listened to music and what seemed like 1000 frogs, we just hung out stared at the stars, the trees, and talked about the future. Then we had sex on what is now our next door neighbors kitchen island because their home wasn't far enough along in the building process to be locked yet.

Jessica: A perfect date night would be going to see a TX country artist that we like in a small outdoor venue. We would sit on a blanket and dance a little, drink some whiskey. Just relaxing and enjoying each other's company. Then we would leave and eat a late dinner at Whataburger and have milkshakes, me chocolate, him vanilla. Drive around on some roads we've never been down before and find a place to park, probably somewhere we aren't allowed to be.

Okay, both of those dates sound like the perfect mix of sweet and naughty. Getting to know Nathan and Jessica is like watching a romantic comedy play out in real life (but with way more authenticity). While Fusion loves capturing engagements and weddings, we had a blast celebrating Nathan and Jessica’s 15th anniversary!

I have a unique position in life. I am blessed with the opportunity to meet so many people - every single day. Each human I meet impacts me in a unique and interesting way and I always walk away from each experience with some sort of gift.

Jess and Nathan left me with this. No matter how long you have been with someone, no matter how many ups or downs or diversity you face with each other, we always have choices. We can choose to smile, laugh and embrace these changes as contrasts that help us grow, or we can run and hide and try something else. They choose to embrace life, they smile, they genuinely adore each other's company and through it all, want to continue to share more moments that life will bring to them - TOGETHER!
