Goals. Do you set them? If so, why? Do you find yourself achieving the goals you set? What does the word “goal” even mean? According to dictionary.com:
Goal - the result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.
I find that setting goals is an effective way of actually getting shit done. You need to have an end achievement in mind or else you’ll be running in circles, am I right? Although I believe you can set goals at any point/time in your life, the new year lends a good reason to reset and get focused. And this year is major because not only is it a new year, it’s the start of another 10 years of setting goals, achieving them, then setting more.
Here’s a look into the personal challenges and goals I’ve set for myself for 2020:
#1: Coffee Weekly With Someone New
I love meeting new people, catching up with people I already know, and connecting people that could benefit one another. This year, I’m going to put that into action with having coffee weekly with someone new. So watch out, I may reach out to YOU to grab a cup of jo and learn more about you and your passions :)
#2: Read 100 Books
Something you may not know about me - I’m a complete and total nerdy bookworm. I love reading and the imagination it opens up. I’m challenging myself to read 100 books this year, which breaks down to about eight books a week. Can I do it? Definitely. Drop your book recommendations below!
#3: Invest in Myself
This year, I want to invest in myself by attending a class or workshop that benefits ME. This is my version of self care - taking part in something that really hits home and will help me grow and develop in certain facets of my life as well as meet new people along the way.
#4: New Hobby
I’d love to find time to take up a new hobby this year. Something that doesn’t have any type of revenue or money tied to it like my business does. Something that helps me unwind at the end of the day that I truly find enjoyment in. I’m thinking landscaping, wood working or writing a book… all sound uber relaxing.
#5: Solo Trip
It’s no secret that I love traveling and I love my traveling companions, whether it’s my kids or my girlfriend. This year though, I want to take myself out of my comfort zone and do a solo trip. I’m not sure where yet, but I want the chance to unplug and really connect with the culture around me and learn to navigate it all on my own.
I’m really goal-oriented and my list is much, much longer. I’d lose you if I started to explain each, so here’s a quick rundown of the rest of the things I have on my plate for 2020.
launch a new business venture
continue to grow Fusion through weddings, destination weddings, families, and commercial work
position myself as a larger influencer via social media
promote my colleagues via collaborations
purchase new camera equipment
work with a non-profit outside of the country
travel with to at least five countries
travel with my kids to at least one country
purchase a rental property international
improve customer service by hiring a dedicated client relationship manager
launch a networking venture
attend social media summit
Wow - am I crazy? Not necessarily, I just know what I’m capable of, what I want to achieve, and what will help me grow overall. What are you capable of? What are your 2020 goals? I want to hear them!
